The Contest is this Monday @ 5 pm . Rain has ended and weather is looking great for the weekend and the event! See poster and Mystery Category posted below.
So the Mystery Category is actually a blast from the past, one of our favorite retired categories… Dentist’s Dream!
Last seen 9 years ago at the 2005 event… think teeth that only a dentist could love… lot’s of teeth!
Here is our first Master Blade winner from last year, Julie Cummings-Bosch with the trophy and Bugs, a Guide Dog Foundation traniee who’s trainer actually works at Julie’s office. Very ironic since we were able to sponsor two guide dogs with the sponsorship proceeds last year!
How do you win the Master Blade trophy? Well you carve something as amazing as Julie’s Lamp that won first prize in the Let There Be Light category and you hope the judges think it’s the “Best in Show” at the event. It dose not have to be in the Free Style categories to get noticed but it would probably help. You can see Julie’s Lamp and others in the Pumpkin Carving Gallery or just look at the bottom of this year’s poster.
The 2014 Carving Contest will be held, as usual at the Bridgehampton Community House on Monday October 27th at 5 pm. See poster below.
The Mystery Category and details on the Master Blade Trophy will be posted here later this week.
Please see the Carving Contest page for rules and information.
We would like to, once again, thank all of our sponsors for supporting the contest and our charity work!

Please check out the 2013 Pumpkin Carving Gallery!
The contest is tonight, Monday, at 5pm so this is your last chance to get it together. Remember to follow the categories but if you have an idea that doesn’t fit go for Odd Lot or one of the freestlye categories.
If you’re looking for ideas find a not so perfect pumpkin and let it speak to you or go to the links below to see some entries from last year and beyond. Often the simplest ideas are the best, you don’t have to be good with a blade to catch the judges eye.
All 16 categories are ALL AGES, kids and adults, just the 12 and under freestyle is limited by age.
All entries and admission is FREE!
Maximum 3 entries per person, one per category. Judging starts at dusk/dark so don’t be too late. All entries should be taken home after the contest. Please bring a candle for each of your entries.
Carving must be done in advance at home. No carving is permitted at the event.
Judging will start around 6:30 or when it’s dark enough so don’t be late.
See you tonight!
The Mystery Category is “Wicked Wiccan”!
Ok, so we decided on how to handle who gets to be the first name on our trophy. The most impressive carving on the lot. It could be the “All Ages Freestyle” winner, it could be the winner of “Sea Screecher” or an amazing entry for “Let there Be light ” that just didn’t make sense for the category name and did not even place first or second. We are going to give the judges a little criteria to follow on this one too.
– It should look good in daylight and more importantly at night.
– Carving quality should be considered ( it is a carving contest after all )
– Scale should not be the most important consideration, although if everything else is covered, scale could make the difference.
– Possibly most of all, a clever & creative concept should be rewarded whether it fits a category or not.
Good Luck!
The 2013 Carving Contest will be held, as usual at the Bridgehampton Community House on Monday October 28th at 5 pm. See poster below.
We will be introducing 2 different kinds of categories this year. Master Blade and a local restaurant category.
The Mystery Category and details on the new Master Blade Trophy will be posted here later this week.
We will be inviting local restaurants to participate in a separate competition where each participating restaurant will receive a placard with their name on it to post in front of their entry. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony. If you are interested please cal 631-324-6766 for details. We will need to know about these entries before Friday the 25th.
We are also taking category sponsors. If you are interested please call 324-6766 ASAP to reserve your favorite category.
Please see the Carving Contest page for rules and information.
We are disappointed to announce that due to Superstorm Sandy, we had to cancel our annual
pumpkin carving contest. However, we wish to thank, the many, many, local businesses and residents who stepped up and sponsored our clubs efforts to fundraise this year. Their generosity enables us to continue serving our community and allows us to contribute to our very important network of local charities. With their donations and the unspent prize money we are also able help the blind and the deaf with our support of The Guide Dog Foundation and a number of others organizations that serve their essential needs.
Our area was fortunate to have avoided the terrible devastation suffered by others not so very far away and we urge everyone to reach out in any way possible to help our neighbors get through these difficult days.
We look forward to seeing everyone next year, hopefully under clear skies!
