We would like to congratulate Cody for graduating to a full fledged Guide Dog this year. The Bridgehampton Lions would also like to take this opportunity to introduce the names of the three new Guide Dogs we were able to sponsor because of generous donations from you this past year – Jack, Bauer, and Ginger. We will post photos as soon as we have them and look forward to sponsoring a few more after the upcoming Pumpkin Carving Contest.

What a great Carving Contest this year! Thanks to all the carvers, sponsors and spectators, without you it would not be possible. We also wanted to tell you that the judges had a very difficult time this year, we feel like you all deserve to be acknowledged so great job! Seriously! We are hoping that crowds of people stopping to look at each and every one of your carvings (more then once) is intensive enough to keep you coming back.
We posted lots of photos in the gallery and hope you take the time to look – yours may be in there CARVING GALLERY 2010.
News 12 was there and will air a short spot this Sunday at 5pm and plans to add a longer one later this year.
The East Hampton Star, Sag Harbor Express & Southampton Press were there too, you may be in the paper this week so take a look tomorrow.
Plumb TV is also interviewing our first place winner today, keep an eye out for it
Thank You!

The contest starts this Monday at 5pm so this is your last chance to get it together… don’t wait till the last minute. Remember to follow the categories but if you have an idea that doesn’t fit go for one of the freestlye categories.
If you’re looking for ideas find a not so perfect pumpkin and let it speak to you or go to the links below to see some entries from last year. Often the simplest ideas are the best, you don’t have to be good with a blade to catch the judges eye.
All 16 categories are ALL AGES, kids and adults, just the 12 and under freestyle is limited by age.
All entries and admission is FREE!
Maximum 3 entries per person, one per category. Judging starts at dusk/dark so don’t be too late. All entries should be taken home after the contest. Please bring a candle for each of your entries.
Carving must be done in advance at home. No carving is permitted at the event.

The mystery category is…. Bozo Bizarro!
Don’t wait till the last minute, get out there and find your pumpkin this weekend and think about it all week because next weekend is for carving!
If you don’t have an idea in mind when looking for a pumpkin that’s OK, just look for the not so perfect ones and let them speak to you… the ones with more character tend to give you ideas. Keep your mind open and be creative. Following a category can also help but don’t forget about the freestyle option… last year there weren’t that many in the freestyle categories so there is a a good opportunity to win the big bucks if you think out of the box.
Remember it’s FREE to enter and you can ENTER UP TO 3 TIMES as long as each entry is in a separate category.
You can also check the Carving Contest Gallery and Not Your Average Jack http://www.notyouraveragejack.com for inspiration too.

Thanks to all who attended and visited our first annual Antique Show in some time. Turn out was not great due to uncharacteristic beach weather in October but all and all it was a good stat to a new tradition. Lets hope for 50 degrees and large puffy clouds for next year. Antique buying was not stellar but donations were – we are able to sponsor 3 Guide Dogs because of the show! Thank You!
Thanks again to Barbara Trujillo and all the Dealers!

Yes, the Pumpkin Carving Contest is coming up, in fact it will be held on Monday October 25th at 5 as usual, BUT first we would like to announce our first (actually we used to do this several years ago for those who remember) annual Antique Show. Barbara Trujillo is back too and has invited an amazing assortment of dealers from all over the east coast. If you remember the shows from the past you won’t let anything get in your way the Saturday of Columbus Day Weekend, infact you may want to consider the early entry option at 9am. See below for the poster and mark your calandar.
We will post the categories for the Carving Contest shortly afterward but so far I would not expect too many new additions – it was a pretty good lot lastyear and hard to find one to take out.

Cubs For Kids is a children’s outreach club that was recently formed by The Bridgehampton Lions Club to help our children make a difference in the lives of other kids. The group just held a very successful bake sale to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Seven “Cubs” and their friends, twelve in all, baked cookies and cakes on Saturday and spent all of Sunday at Kathryn and Doug DeGroot’s Buckskill Winter Club selling them. Thanks to a bit of baking guidance from the mothers, a wonderful location, (the skating rink was packed!) and a very generous outpouring of support, the Cubs raised $934.00!
On Monday morning $1000.00 was sent, in their name, to Partners In Health, a relief organization that has been running health clinics in Haiti for twenty years. Located in rural areas, most of their clinics survived the devastation and are now playing a vital role helping the injured who are streaming out of the badly damaged Port-au-Prince.
Cubs For Kids Serve Too!

The children of the Bridgehampton Lions Club have joined forces to reach out to those in need. “Cubs For Kids” is their new name and they have gotten off to a great start. The Bridgehampton Lions once again held their “Santa At The Library” event last week. This year all of the remaining toys were wrapped and delivered, by the children, to the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center! There were over 100 toys!
